Comments from a listener of the WCQS Radio show last night. The listener also
shared some helpful resources regarding ADHD. Thank you to ‘RD’
Comments & Resources -
Listened to Evening Rounds last night and had a couple of resources I’ve
found useful.
I have almost no tolerance for self help books but the 2 new books by Ari
Tuckman seem to be well researched and current. One is geared toward
clinicians and the other toward ADD patients.
“Integrative Treatment for Adult ADHD” for clinicians but I found it interesting.
“More Attention, Less Deficit: Success Strategies for Adults with ADHD” This
one is fairly common sense stuff but it is designed to be read in small bits and
in any order so it works well for those of us who don’t focus well.
Many of the articles and sections of these are both available in pdf form on
his website. I took the medication summary to my Dr. with me just for reference.
There is also a research study published as “ADHD in Adults: What the Science
Says” by Russell Barkley. They track a group of Adults diagnosed as children
and a group of clinically referred (adult diagnosis). It’s a large series of research methods and findings so not super ADD friendly but might prove interesting to
you.
Thanks for helping get the issue out there and debunk the “myth” status it has.
