    Adults with ADHD should avoid these common mistakes to protect and serve life’s important relationships.

    If you’re like many ADD adults, relationshipsdon’t always come easy. You have to work on communication, organization, and anger management on a daily basis. But if you resort to any of the following, you could wind up sabotaging your relationship.
    1. Violate trust. 

    Depending on the severity of your ADHD, it’s very possible that the tentacles of ADHD may extend into most aspects of your life. We often consider the impact of ADHD to work & career, to organization of time and space. However, an important aspect of the ADHD individuals life that receives less attention is the importance of our relationships.

    I was recently coaching an individual and asked him to list the three most important areas of his life effected by his ADHD that he is typically juggling. Among his top three most important he listed his relationship with his wife. The next question I asked was, “Which one of these three are you most likely to ‘drop’ while juggling. With some level of surprise he responded, “the relationship with my wife”.

    A good relationship can be considered GOLD to the individual with ADHD. I could build a long list of the benefits that a good relationship brings to our ADHD lives. Yet with all our business and juggling our relationships frequently do not receive the attention they deserve for our relationships to flourish.
